LONGMONT -- The Vector Foundation's (MCTF)
sole purpose to to help find Colorado's missing children.
The non-profit organization began operating out
of Longmont in 1993 to assist law enforcement agencies looking for
the overwhelming number of children that have run away or been abducted
by a family member.
"We do whatever it takes in the investigative
realm to develop leads," said Rogers, the foundation's executive
director.
Operating on an annual budget of $42,000, Rogers
is the only paid employee, while about 10
|
volunteers assist in various administrative and
investigative activities.
He added, however, he essentially has worked
for free for some time.
"My concern is the safety and well-being
of the children," Rogers said.
Although the Vector Foundation is handling about
four cases of missing children right now, he hopes that pledges
and contributions will help to expand the geographical and numerical
scope of their work.
Interviewing neighbors and friends, checking
records and sometimes performing surveillance are just a few of
the types of things Rogers does to help law enforcement find the
kids.
